I stumbled upon this new feature while searching for prayer times yesterday on Bing. The picture on the left side changes based on the current prayer time.
Muezzin: The müezzin (the word is pronounced this way Turkish, Urdu, etc.; in Arabic: mu’addin or mu’adhdhin, plural: mu’adhdhin, dual: mu’adhdhinayn) is a servant at the mosque who leads the call (adhan) to Friday service and the five daily prayers, or Salah, from one of the mosque’s minarets (in most modern mosques, amplification aids the muezzins).
I took this picture on 06/06/2006 at the company mosque of one of my manufacturing clients in Bahrain. They do not have a dedicated Muezzin staff on board, so the clever people from MIS department….. they virtualized the Muezzin!
What you see in the picture is an old Dell Optiplex desktop (white color) connected to the mosque’s amplifier system. The desktop runs Adhan software that is scheduled to automatically recite the Adhan (call to prayer) five times a day through the mosque’s loudspeakers, informing the faithful of the time of prayer.
