Communications tab missing in ADUC on OCS 2007

image

If you’ve installed Office Communication Server 2007 on a machine running Windows Server 2003 x64, you will probably not see the Communications tab in Active Directory Users & Computers or dsa.msc. You also find the Communications server options missing when you right click on the user account.

This is because you are opening the 64-bit MMC snap-in for Active Directory Users & Computers (which is default) instead of the 32-bit MMC snap-in.

To open the 32-bit MMC snap for ADUC, go to Start –> Run and type

dsa.msc -32

The Communications tab should now be available and you can right-click on the users to get the Enable users for Communications Server option and more.

    Great post. What a stupid problem.. you might have thought that there might be compatibility between 32 & 64 bit windows

    I am not getting the Communications tab even after starting in the 32 bit mode as explained above. What else needs to be done in this case ?

    You can get that by running adminpack.msi from LCS 2007. > download LCS 2007 eval…

    He is the solution:

    1. Remove all adminpak from your computer (KB958830).

    2. Install “Microsoft Visuall C++ 2005 Redistibutile”

    3. Install OCSresKit

    4. Restart your computer

    5. Install adminpak for win7 (KB958830).
